Very personal customer care from this vendor.

I bought the book because I am working on my Bachelor's degree in accounting and this fits my class. I was totally surprised with the packaging that it came with. I have been buying textbooks for the last 3 years from Amazon but this was uniquely special. This book came so well packaged that it could have fallen in a puddle of oil and it still would not have hurt the book...AWESOME! Then the vendor included a special message in his own handwriting that was directed to my choice of careers and how this book would help me achieve my goals. I felt honored that the vendor would take time to write to me like that, made me feel very special!

Good, could be great

This book does a good job of presenting accounting formulas and explaining most of the logic behind them.
However, I firmly believe all textbooks should be able to be read through without the assistance of an instructor and be understood by anyone of sound mental capacity who picks it up and sincerely tries. This book isn't like that. When presenting examples, Wild/Shaw fails to state which numbers/calculations are "givens" and what has been computed--this is fundamentally confusing; and a large portion of time is wasted trying to figure out where numbers are even coming from.
I recommend to Shaw to address this if there is to be a 2011 Edition of "Managerial Accounting".
