I liked this story a lot. The things this billionaire puts this young woman through is crazy. Taking her to an island and having sex because he wants to (and I think she also wanted to), and planning to leave on that island until she is completely his. The sex in the water under the falls is great as well as the sex on the boat and what he has in store for her next. I have read all of the stories in the series, and I was not disappointed in the least. I am looking forward to the next of the Captured bride series.

Fascinating case studies in digital poetry

I am a poet who has worked with text generating programs (mchain, Gnoetry 2.0, etc.) for years, but this book opened my eyes to a much broader and more exciting field of digital poetry styles and approaches than I had been aware of, from video games to complex, interactive web maps. I still work mostly in print media, so I had not taken much notice of the many fascinating and rich digital poems which had been published online over the past 20 years. This book gives a broad overview of what digital poetry is, and then it provides a couple dozen case studies, or close readings, to aid in appreciating and understanding each work as a work of digital poetry and new media art.

A great book for those new to digital poetry or who are interested in teaching digital poetry in the classroom.

He understands the world, the magic, the tech, the politics, the feel of the world and he blends plenty of that in with interesting characters and some surprising revelations about things in the Sixth World. I usually know I like a book if I start reading and don't want to stop. This book was definitely an "I don't want to stop" book for me. I hope Mr. Odom is planning to do more Shadowrun novels. If you haven't read any Shadowrun, don't know the world, don't let that stop you, I think this book could be a good introduction to first timers. If I must nitpick, the rigger and her drones were pretty darn powerful useful get out of jail free plot helpers at times but hey I love riggers so I will let it slide . . . this time . . .

Twisting and turning right to the finish

The complexity of the story grows throughout. Mysteries linger are revealed and then answers shattered. The purity of the shadowrun universe is maintained by a master and includes enough "inside" references to tip the hat to long time fans as well as quick descriptions for the uninitiated. The many characters are interwoven and each holds a backstory that enriches our connection to them and builds our connection with the team itself. Globe trotting through many plexes with introductions to side players bring you into the sixth world and leaves a strong sense of the political, magical, and geographic landscape of the Shadowrun universe. I look forward to the next one. Thank you to the author.

Sometimes there are gaps between chapters that scream to get folled, the story could use 100 pages more, but it is a great story and worth reading. If you are into Shadowrun, you gonna love it. And I want part 2!

Great Basketball and Inspiring Read

Calipari's latest book gives you an in depth view of one of the preeminent college basketball coaches. With five trips to the Final 4 and his first national championship Calipari speaks from the perspective of a man comfortable with his position in the sport well aware that he has detractors and that he will never change the minds of these people. Subjects covered here are his faith, his recruiting pitch and philosophy, and how he treats players. The book is chock full of anecdotal stories of helping players, coaching players and dealing with family, friends and the media. From this book you get in the mind of an exceptional marketer and coach who is a lot more focused on helping and improving the lives of others.

As mentioned previously, if you are not a Cal fan, you probably won't change your mind. But if you like basketball and want a view behind the curtain, buy this book and you will learn a lot. This book will be most popular with Kentucky basketball fans and there are a lot of those. But it should also be read by all basketball fans for a different perspective.

I guess I need to disclose that I know Cal from his years in Memphis. I've watched him interact with those suffering with illness or death in their families. You can look at some conference title pictures and see older ladies brought in as he knew it would brighten their lives after the death of a spouse. I've been near his wife and kids and also saw a quality person that cared for his family and brightened their lives, but of course, not without his flaws as he states eloquently in this book. This book does a good job capturing the Calipari I know: friendly, outgoing, sympathetic, and a driven person who will work harder than others to succeed, not for himself, but for others.

I found this book a fascinating read, and not just because I am a UK basketball fan. This book details the rigors of running a highly successful program at a college basketball powerhouse. It also presents cogent ideas for shaping the future of the game. It's a recommended read for any college basketball fan.

Right off the bat...I am from Kentucky, born and raised. I attended UK during the Rupp's Runts Era. I am a life long fan of the Kats. I have grown to like Calipari, and who can help but LOVE his abilities to recruit! All of that out of the way, PLAYERS FIRST, Coaching From The Inside Out is a very good read. If you are a sports fan, a NCAA basketball fan, or if you need a really good explanation of "one and done" read it. If you are a UK fan the book is must reading. This book taught me a lot about Calipari, maybe you live in Wildcat country and won't learn as much as I did living in Gator Country. But I did learn a lot. This book was fun and entertaining and goes into huge detail on "one and done" logic, oh that's, "succeed and proceed." I respect John Calipari more after reading it.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

In this boldly optimistic manifesto, Savage proclaims a master plan for the human race: to spread life throughout the galaxy. To many, space exploration seems irrelevant to Earth's real problems; but humanity may in fact have no other way to secure its long-term survival. To remain confined to Earth, Savage claims, is to court extinction, possibly within a few decades. Savage (an engineer who has established the Millennial Foundation to promote space exploration) outlines his program for transferring a significant portion of humanity off-planet. The crucial first step is to colonize the ocean surface with floating cities, quadrupling the living space available to the growing population of Earth. This allows us to reverse the degradation of the environment by shifting to the thermal energy of the deep ocean as our primary power source. At the same time, spirulina algae (already on sale in health food stores) becomes a major new food crop. The hardware for these oceanic colonies is already within practical reach: Savage provides a detailed inventory of how his floating cities would work and support themselves, with copious citations of the scientific literature. Once this move is well underway, it frees up energy and resources for the next steps. Improved space vehicles make possible orbiting space colonies, then settlements on the moon. A larger step is terraforming Mars--creating an atmosphere and a water supply for our lifeless neighbor to form a human habitat. On an even longer time scale, the race can expand into the rest of the solar system: asteroids and the moons of other planets. Ultimately, artificial habitats may completely surround the sun. With the resources of an entire solar system at our command, according to Savage, humanity can at last send out emissaries to other stars. The stuff of science fiction? Beautiful story!!!

Sam is another one of those authors who's books are automatic buys for me. Henry and April have been fighting their feelings for each other for a long time but they finally come together. I like the fact that they took their time because the feelings of guilt are on both sides and they have to overcome that. You'll have to read the book to understand why they feel guilty, but trust me, it's great!!! When Sam writes a book like this, I love it because we usually get to see the couple years down the road and see get a glimpse of what their lives have been like. This is one book I'm sure I will read over and over.

This is a short read but it felt like a full novel to me

This my first book by this author but I have brought a couple of her books which I have not read so far and will have to get on with that.

This is Henry and April's story. This is a short read but it felt like a full novel to me. After how Julia betrayed them both, I hated how they allowed her memory and their guilty for loving each other make they waste so much time being apart instead of being together. I loved how Henry was gruff in the story he was just plain aggressive but it was because he had to bottle up so much of his emotions inside of him instead of letting the woman he loved know how much he cared about her.

I enjoyed the story. I would read more from this author.

I truly enjoyed this book. April and Henry are well written characters with a wonderful storyline. I enjoyed the theme of the story. It was nice to see them get closer and learn some important things surrounding the death of her friend. I liked seeing them get to their happy ending.

World's greatest structural english grammar text

First obtained this book when becoming an English teacher in college 1965-69.....used it extensively in helping students plow out of the look/see method of learning English, it helped them tremendously....then the book disappeared. Am very grateful to Amazon for having them available....it also helps students who are studying foreign languages....if you don't know English, you can't take French/Spanish/German/Latin.

Excellent Grammar Book

Introductory English Grammar, by Norman C. Stageberg, has been very familiar to college students in Vietnam. It was first introduced to English majors in Vietnam when the third edition of the book was published. Currently, many colleges in Vietnam are using it as a textbook. Being a lecturer who has been using this book for at least five years in my grammar courses, I would very much like to recommend this book to anyone whose major is English, especially to non-native students.

Recounting their stories, he wrestles with what it means to be an outsider in a place like this, whether or not his attempt to understand, to help, might not in fact inflict its own damage. Ultimately he shows that the many injuries these people carry—like dreams—are a crucial form of resilience, and that we should all think about the ghetto differently, not as an abandoned island of unmitigated violence and its helpless victims but as a neighborhood, full of homes, as a part of the larger society in which we all live, together, among one another.

This book sits comfortably among the best ethnographies of the last two decades. Ralph's debut makes one think at times of the most literarily stunning passages in Jo�o Biehl's Vita. This is a beautifully written book, and it should appeal to a wide audience far beyond anthropology and urban sociology. It represents a great step forward for US-based anthropology and writing writ large in the social sciences. For anyone with interests in urban studies and urban anthropology/sociology, the American ghetto, the city of Chicago, gang studies, disability studies, or simply great writing, this book is not to be missed.
