Very useful, only a one small issue...

These cards are an easy way to boost your SAT-specific vocabulary. The flashcard format allows for quick repetition, more than with books in my opinion. I only wish they had pronunciation keys next to the definitions. I recommend these cards along with "Verbal Advantage" and a pocket dictionary for a lasting vocabulary increase. Daily reading, however, is still your best bet for a lifelong and effective vocabulary. These cards are just tools to speed up the process.

Nice Study Tool for easy vocab

This set of cards can be very helpful if you are preparing for the SAT and your vocabulary bank needs more work. However, the effect of these study cards will vary greatly from person to person, as this set contains some words that are used in everyday language and I really would not consider them to be "SAT vocabulary". If you already have a very good knowledge of SAT vocabulary, then you should look elsewhere. If you need work and need to learn SAT vocabulary quick, buying this will give you an easy and effective tool to the understanding of the basic words found in the SAT. By no means will this completely prepare you for EVERY word you will see on the SAT however, and if that was your goal, then you should complement this with more vocab to study.

a very useful tool

I'm an SAT tutor, and I recommend this product for most of my students. It's helpful not just for the Sentence Completions, but for the whole Critical Reading section- many of these words show up in the long passages and the corresponding questions.

It's true that students could make their own flashcards, but very few students are diligent enough to do that. This box gives them a huge number of useful words to learn, and having a sturdy box and dividers is invaluable to keep things organized. It's priced very reasonably for the quality you get.

What keeps it from getting 5 stars? No pronunciation key for the words, and the definitions could be simpler.

This book has the answer

This book helped me help a close person that had multiple personalities since childhood. After extensive study of this book I was able to be a guide for this person and was taken on a journey to a place I never knew existed. At first I was amazed at how everything was as written in the book; however, the layout inside was a little more complicated than the scenarios in the book, but there was a guide inside to help us to get to each next step. The end result was a merge of all personalities to become one, no more alters. It was such an amazing journey and I give all glory to Jesus Christ for this healing that has taken place.

Unique insight into the inner world of some multiples

A friend of mine with DID absolutely loved this book! She was delighted to read that there were others with DID who experienced their inner worlds much the same as she did. She was relieved to discover that she was not the only one out there with such an elaborate inner world. As in this book, her inner world was positively influenced by caring and trusted friends on the outside who counseled her and prayed with her. She was thrilled to read that there were others who saw and experienced the kinds of things that she did in her inner world. This book is unique in that it offers a glimpse into the inner world that some multiples experience and how they visualize their inner world. It helped me understand how my friend pictures her inner world and how she interacts with it. A great benefit of this book is that it shows how the imagination and creativity of a multiple can be used to help bring a tremendous degree of healing. I've seen firsthand the encouragement this book has brought to someone with DID and appreciate the author's unique, out of the box, and non traditional approach to helping bring healing to multiples. Skeptics should not so easily and readily dismiss the idea that a real loving God could and would allow multiples with childlike faith to see and picture interactions with the spiritual world in a way that helps them heal. While my friend's healing process was a long, slow, arduous journey this book was one tool that helped her along the way.

This book was life-changing for me. I find it interesting that all these reviews are from people who either love or hate it... no middle ground... and the ones who hate it seem to have no experience with Jesus or his power to heal the wounded soul. I don't have DID and am not a multiple, nor was I ever abused in my life. However, I have found that I am fractured in my soul as well. I started to notice how often I berate myself for things I wish I hadn't said or done. What part of me is despising what other part?? I oppose myself! The things I want to do I don't do, and the things I don't want to do, I do, as stated by Saint Paul, who counted himself among those with fractured souls, yet gave glory to God through Jesus, who is the one who can deliver us and make us one. Even if this book is completely fictional - and I'm pretty sure it's not - I am grateful to Mr. Skolfield for writing it. It was the start of a path of healing for me. I'm starting to recognize self-destructive thought patterns, and am learning to love myself and extend the mercy of God to myself. How can you love anyone else if you hate yourself, anyway?

About the Author

Teri C. Tompkins, the eldest in a large family, was born and raised in southern California, where she has enjoyed the rich diversity of people and geography. She received her bachelor of arts and master of science degrees from California State University, Long Beach in not-for-profit management from the Recreation and Leisure Studies department. Her mother often asked her if she was still majoring in "fun." She held several positions in youth agencies including the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.

In 1983, she quit her job to train and qualify for the 1984 Olympic archery trials. The experience gave her confidence to change careers. She enrolled in the M.B.A. program at The Claremont Graduate University (CGU). As a research assistant for Professor Vijay Sathe, she began researching and writing cases. She subsequently enrolled in the Ph.D. program, and used cases as part of her dissertation research. Upon graduation from CGU, she joined the faculty at The University of Redlands, and became involved in the Western Casewriters Association, where she became president from 1995 to 1996. She is a member of the North American Case Research Association. After receiving tenure at the University of Redlands in 1999, she served as department chair until 2001. She then joined the faculty at Pepperdine University in 2001.

She consults in the areas of team development and learning. Her interests include writing biographies for children, and anything t8 do with nature including, hiking, biking, and natural science. After delaying parenthood for years, she and her spouse are thoroughly enjoying raising two daughters, ages four and six.

I've put this book together to fill a void that I think exists in the field of case teaching. There are not enough intermediate-length cases, especially in organizational behavior and management. Most cases available for the classroom are long, messy cases requiring total commitment to "the case method." There is rarely enough time to review and discuss theory or to include classroom exercises. The alternatives are the short cases at the end of the chapter in the textbook. These cases are usually fictional or gleaned from an article, such as found in the Wall Street Journal, not from direct contact with the organization and the people. They require very little thinking from students, with the "problem" and "right answer" clearly drawn from the chapter in question. These end-of-chapter cases provide little challenge for students.

The intermediate-length cases in this book are messy enough that students have to think to analyze them, yet short enough that the instructor can include other teaching methods such as lecture or classroom exercises. The cases are real—the facts of the case have not been altered to make it more illustrative or plausible. Consequently, many of the cases have strong emotional undertones, which draw the students into the case and help them relate to the key characters. Students care about what happens to the people and the organization. Classroom discussion is lively. Students gain mastery of the course content because they have used course-pertinent theories and concepts, along with their own reasoning and relevant experience, to approach genuine organizational problems. Smart, well organized and very instructive

I had this very instructional book handed to me by a fellow I work with at a fast moving start-up. Knowing that I'd been a pioneer in guerilla and web marketing, he wondered if the advice in it was worthy of following. I am not easily impressed with marketing books as many of them seem to be written by people who are looking to pat themselves on the back with congratulatory self indulgence in a field that is far more art than it is science. This book is quite a bit different. Written like a bible it offers specific and concrete advise on the steps and considerations one makes when planning and implementing a successful campaign. Much of the book covers topics that are basic but with an approach that concretely identifies the questions one should be asking to make good decisions. I will admit that when Naresh asked me to read his book, Fifty Shades of Marketing, I almost turned him down. Marketing?! Are you kidding me?! I immediately thought I boring, boring, boring and oh yeah, extremely boring. However, that same day I mentioned to my husband that I had gotten an email to read and review a book titled, Fifty Shades of Marketing. I told him I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it because marketing is a boring subject. He told me to read it anyway because I may be able to apply some of the tips to our own business and to my blog. So, I told Naresh that I would read and write a review about his book.

I started reading Fifty Shades of Marketing on Friday night and guess what y'all? It was so good I finished it by Saturday afternoon. Naresh is a great writer and this is by far the best book I have ever read about marketing. Naresh discusses everything from direct marketing, the importance of an email list, affiliate marketing, podcasts, how to brand yourself and more. In every chapter he gives examples of how each strategy will and won't work. Strategies he's used and the results. Each chapter is engaging and exciting to read. I even laughed at some of the stories he told in the chapters.

Some of the strategies in the book I will be applying to my home business and some to my blog. I feel like this book applies to all. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn how whip their business into shape and dominate the competition. Naresh is a great writer and displays his intelligence and fun-loving ways in his writing.
